founded MAGNA Securities Corp. in 1992 and has built a solid reputation for the Firm.
Both Ms. Winans and the Firm enjoy the highest respect within the investment community, especially among institutional
investment managers, treasurers offices of municipalities and plan sponsors. Since the
inception of the Firm Ms. Winans has successfully developed core brokerage services such
as commission recapture, transition management, transaction measurement and comprehensive
reporting. Today she is involved in the product development, and marketing/client services aspect of the business.
Ms. Winans began her career
as a registered broker in 1982 on the municipal bond trading desk of First National Bank of
Chicago. Prior to forming MAGNA Securities Corp., she held a number of prominent industry
positions including serving as Vice President at the following entities: Rauscher Pierce Refnes, Greenwich Partners
and M. R. Beal & Company. From 1996 to 1997 she hosted "Wall Street 101", PBS a
nationally-broadcast program covering various Wall Street topics from an educational point
of view. She holds various industry licenses
including a Series 7 (Full Registration/General Securities Representative), 24
(General Securities Principal), 27 (Financial & Operations Principal), 53
(Municipal Principal), 55 (OTC Securities Trader) and 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State
Law). Ms. Winans was educated at DePaul University in Chicago where she studied Corporate
Finance and Economics.
Val V.Guilford
President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Firm's newly created
London based subsidiary, Magna Securities Global Ltd., Mr.
Guilford has pioneered the Firm's expansion into the European market by
spearheading the creation of this new subsidiary, securing its authorization by
the UK's Financial Services Authority and single handedly establishing a trade
execution operation in London. Currently, Mr. Guilford resides in London and is
devoting all of his time to ensure the success of Magna Securities Global, Ltd.
Prior to his departure for England, from the time he joined the Firm in 1994
through June, 2007, Mr. Guilford served as the Firm's President & Head
Trader. During that time, he gained the reputation of being one of the best
institutional equity execution traders on the sell side of the street. As Head
Trader, his primary duties consisted of executing transactions for the Firm's
institutional book, developing new talent and supervising the sales and trading
efforts of other registered representatives on the equity desk.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Guilford had an extensive career in commercial
banking as a lending officer. Mr. Guilford graduated from Norfolk State
University, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and holds
the Series 7, 24, 55 & 63 licenses.
Kurt Hutchinson
Senior Vice President and Head Equity Trader--- New York Desk,
Mr. Hutchinson has been with MAGNA Securities Corp for over six years, during
which time he has garnered over three years of program trading experience. Mr.
Hutchinson is responsible for US and non-US equity trading as well as the
coordination between internal and external contra execution parties for MAGNA's
transition management team. Mr. Hutchinson attained this highly technical skill
over the last 6 years during his coverage of MAGNA's institutional investment
managers/clients that utilize the firm for recurring rebalancing activity.
During this time he has mastered the art of working with multiple algorithms
and logarithms to control market risk and balance dollar and/or sector
neutrality. In addition, he is extremely proficient in routing orders to
various points of execution, including listed exchanges, external trading
platforms/systems and external electronic confirmation networks. Mr. Hutchinson
has executed trades in domestic and international equity securities during
various market environments and business cycles. He is also experienced in
executing block orders and processing both step-out and step-in trades. Mr.
Hutchinson is a FINRA (formerly NASD) registered broker with four industry
licenses including Series 7 (Full Registration/General Securities
Representative), Series 24 (General Securities Principal), Series 55 (OTC
Securities Trader), and Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law). Mr.
Hutchinson holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics from York
University in Canada.
Thomas S. Kingsley
Senior Vice President of Asian Markets, A recent addition to the
staff of MAGNA Securities Corp, Mr. Kingsley has over thirteen years of
experience in the global equity markets. He has served as the Director of
Trading for a multi billion dollar global equity fund and has overseen and
executed equity trades in local Asian, European and emerging country markets.
He has served as both the Execution Trader for a long/short US equity portfolio
and the Head Trader for a long/short emerging market hedge fund. While Mr.
Kingsley is an experienced user of both real-time and electronic trading
systems, he appreciates the value of contacting local brokers in order to
ensure better transparency and to achieve best execution. He has established
strong professional relationships in most major world markets and holds four
industry licenses including Series 7 (Full Registration/General Securities
Representative), Series 55 (OTC Securities Trader), Series 63 (Uniform
Securities Agent State Law) and Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser). Mr.
Kingsley received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers/Florida Atlantic
University and an MBA (Financial Services) from Renesselaer Polytechnic
Institute.
